In a recent appearance on TF1’s *Téléfoot* program, Bordeaux head coach and former French international Rio Mavuba shared his favorite moment from last week: Paris Saint-Germain’s Champions League semifinal victory over Bayern Munich, which secured their spot in the final. Mavuba also offered his thoughts on the upcoming final.
“I absolutely loved Wednesday’s match. I enjoyed seeing Paris Saint-Germain play like that, because we’re used to their flashy style. They had less possession but played with more aggression and defensive unity. It’s a style we don’t often see from them, but it’s crucial. It’s important because we all want to see beautiful football again, and seeing PSG so hungry for victory made me really happy (smiling).”
PSG will face Arsenal in the final, and Mavuba shared his analysis.
“Based on the last few months, is PSG truly unbeatable? They are extraordinary because we saw them last year when they controlled games with clear dominance. This year, especially against Bayern, they seemed to struggle at times, with possession dropping to about 30-35%, yet they were still unstoppable… And their mentality—I want to talk about that. I saw Ousmane Dembélé substituted in the 60th minute without saying a word. Frankly, that deserves to be noted again. But if there is a weakness, it could be their physical condition, as it’s been a long season for them with almost no rest.”
“Arsenal is a team with a completely different style, but both sides are highly disciplined. I think Arsenal’s physical condition is also at a critical point. If they arrive in top form, they might be able to do something. But for now, PSG seems unbeatable.”
