Avangard has arrived back in Omsk following the seventh game of their Gagarin Cup semifinal series against Lokomotiv (3-4). On May 6, Guy Boucher’s team suffered a 3-4 overtime loss in the decisive match.
The squad remained in Yaroslavl after the game due to the airport being closed for air traffic. On May 8, they rode a bus to Moscow before flying home to Omsk.
The team touched down in the city late on the night of May 8 into the early hours of May 9. Fans gathered at the airport to greet the players and coaching staff.
